Estonian manors
Schloß Karkus in Kirchspiel Karkus, Kreis Pernau

The Karksi manor was established by the Karksi fortress (now in ruins). In the 18th and 19th centuries, it belonged to both the von Lievens and von Duntens.

The Baroque wooden main building has been destroyed, but a stylish Classical granary (1840), bailiff’s house and other buildings have preserved. Near the ruins of the fortress, one can also find the Baroque funeral chapel of the von Lievens (the 1770s).

By the historical distribution the manor was in Karksi Parish in Pärnumaa County. By the present administrative distribution it belongs to the Karksi Municipality in Viljandimaa County.
