The manor, originating from the Middle Ages was later long associated with the von Lipharts. In the 1920s-1930s, the Estonian National Museum (Eesti Rahva Muuseum) was located in the luxurious main building, which had been built in several phases between the 18th and the 20th century. Since 1944, the manor lies in ruins; the Neo-classicist gatehouse from the end of the 19th century has been restored.
