Estonian manors
Viol in Kirchspiel Haljall, Wierland

The estate was first mentioned in 1501, when it belonged to the von Lodes; it was later associated with the noble families of von Helffreich and the von Schubert. The historicist main building was completed in the 1880s. The estate manager’s house (the previous main building, probably from the 17th century) and a number of outbuildings also remain. At the entrance there are beautiful stone columns with the coats of arms of the von Schubert family.

The manor is privately owned. The estate manager’s house as well as some outhouses serve as a guesthouse. Additional information: http://www.vihulamanor.com/, info@vihulamanor.com, ph. +372 326 4100.

By the historical distribution the manor was in Haljala Parish in Virumaa County. By the present administrative distribution it belongs to the Vihula Municipality in Lääne-Virumaa County.
