During the Middle Ages, there was a Livonian Order Castle, the manor was established in the 17th century and was the property of the von Tiesenhausens and the Edler von Rennenkampffs. The main building of the manor, which was established on the former location of the Franciscan monastery around 1850 is still there, remodelled into a theatre in the 1920s and 1930s.
